One of the top free things to do in Singapore is to stroll around Merlion Park. Here you can find the famous statue of the Merlion, a creature with a lion’s head and a fish’s tail, which is the most iconic symbol of Singapore. Walking there, you can also admire the stunning views of the Marina Bay Sands architecture.

2. Singapore Flyer

One of the tallest observation wheels in the world, the Singapore Flyer allows you to see panoramic views of the whole city in a 30-minute ride reaching up to a height of 165 m (541 ft). Aside from the standard ride, there are also options where you can enjoy the ride with a glass of champagne or even have a 4-course dinner that will take you an hour and two rotations around the wheel. No matter which option you will choose, it is definitely a thing you cannot miss while visiting Singapore.

3. Gardens by the Bay

There is just one word needed to convince anyone to visit Gardens by the Bay: Supertrees! Yes, those gigantic artificial trees that became a calling card of Singapore and are recognizable worldwide. But don’t stop after Supertree Grove; proceed to Flower Dome and Cloud Forest to admire yet again what human hands and minds are capable of creating.

Even if you have just a layover in Singapore, you can still experience one of its miracles! Take your time and explore Jewel Changi Airport, which is a big tourist attraction itself. Inside you can find a few gardens with waterfalls, dozens of installations and sculptures, the biggest hedge maze in Singapore, and many more! It’s no wonder Changi has been awarded the title of the World’s Best Airport by many consultancies and organizations for many consecutive years.

Another top thing to do in Singapore, which is also free, is to stroll down the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade. From here you can get a closer view of the ArtScience Museum and other architectural wonders. But make sure to find yourself at the promenade in the evening, as that’s the time for the Spectra show, a light and water show similar to the famous one at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

6. Sentosa Island

After exploring mainland Singapore, head off to Sentosa Island, where you can spend days having fun or relaxing, whichever sounds better. For fun lovers, you can safely direct your steps towards Resort World Sentosa – the integrated resort which includes a Universal Studios theme park, the S.E.A. Aquarium, and Adventure Cove Waterpark (we will talk about these in more detail shortly, no worries). For those who prefer a more relaxing kind of vacation, check out the Sentosa beaches, such as Siloso Beach or Palawan Beach.

By the way, you can get to Sentosa Island from mainland Singapore by a cable car. How cool is that!

7. Universal Studios Singapore

The ArtScience Museum in Singapore is simply stunning. The building itself is a work of art, looking amazing both during the day and at night, but wait till you see what’s in store for you inside! 

As the name suggests, the ArtScience Museum combines both art and science to create an unforgettable experience for its visitors. The 21 galleries of the museum are full of stunning installations and artwork that are complemented by cutting-edge technology. Even those who hate art museums will crack a smile once inside!

9. Jurong Bird Park

It found its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List as the only tropical botanic garden, and it became the first UNESCO Heritage Site in Singapore. You can spend a whole day here wandering around orchids or getting lost in the rainforest. It is one of a few places where you can relax and connect with nature while being in the middle of a bustling, busy city.

12. Pulau Ubin
