What is a Peak Travel Period?

A peak season refers to a destination’s primary travel season, which is independently determined; what may be off-peak tourism season for one destination might be peak season for another. Peak season may also be referred to as the high season.

On some forms of transportation, such as public transportation and rail transport, peak and off-peak may refer to different times of the day rather than seasons; a peak travel period may correspond to a local rush hour, while off-peak may coincide with nights, weekends, and holidays.

More on the Peak Season

Between the peak season and the off-peak season, you have the shoulder season, a good mix (sometimes) of less crowds and more budget-friendly prices.
