More on Itinerants

You wouldn’t really call someone who travels once or twice per year an itinerant, though you could, technically. Rather, itinerant refers to someone who travels from place to place regularly.

For example, a traveling salesperson who drives around the United States meeting clients could be called an itinerant salesperson, or a TED Talks speaker moving around the world to give lectures could be called an itinerant speaker.

Also, itinerants are not quite nomads, as they wander from place to place but have more of a structure (or, the related word, an itinerary). However, they can sometimes overlap in meaning.
