Kingdom of Spain | Reino de España
Its mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar (UK), to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the northwest and west by the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal.
Madrid is the capital and largest city.
Spain is a land full of natural beauty. The mountain ranges throughout, such as the Pyrenees, rival ranges in any other European country. As a country that is bordered on all sides by vastly different influences, different regions have unique culture and traditions. The Mediterranean region on its southern coast is a great tourist draw, but there is also an Afro-Muslim influence because of its neighbor across the sea and Strait of Gibraltar, Morocco. To its east is the European mainstay of France, while the UK is not too far from its northern coast by plane.
Spain prides itself for its high quality of life and standards of living. The food is exceptional, and many dishes with seafood abound. Art thrives, and Spain was the home to many of the world’s most famous painters.
