Bolivia travel guide and destination overview of the country. Key information, general overview, and more for travelers to Bolivia.

Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia (Plurinational State of Bolivia)

Bolivia, or the Plurinational State of Bolivia, is officially one of the only two landlocked countries in South America. It borders Peru to the northwest, Brazil to its north and east, and Paraguay, the other inland country, to its southeast. Another two neighbors include Argentina to its south and Chile to the southwest.

The name of the country comes from Simón Bolívar, who was a leader in the wars against Spanish rule in Hispanic America. The official name, which was adopted in 2009, acknowledges the diversity of ethnic groups inhabiting the country.

Bolivia is known worldwide for its beautiful nature and breathtaking landscapes.
