Selcouth

Updated: 2017-12-14.

Selcouth is an adjective meaning strange or unfamiliar, with a touch of rare and yet marvelous, on top.

Selcouth is an archaic term coming from Middle English, itself coming from Old English seldcūth, equivalent to seldom + couth.

However, it has grown apart from the definition of couth, as you would think selcouth would resemble something just above uncouth, which it doesn’t.
