One Right [1R]

Updated: 2017-12-13.

One Right, or 1R, is the forward-most door on the starboard side of an aircraft.

On an aircraft with multiple cabin doors and emergency exits, the cabin crew typically refers to each door in this fashion, in descending order; the next door on this side would be “two right” (“2R”). This is usually an unused or nonexistent door on most aircraft.

When the plane boards from the port front cabin door, that door would be “1L,” for “One Left.”
