Loyalty Program

Updated: 2017-03-27.

In travel terms, a loyalty program, also known as a frequent traveler program, is a marketing offering by various travel companies to increase and retain customer shopping, loyalty, and happiness. Travel companies, such as airlines, hotel chains, and trains, offer points per eligible purchase which a traveler can later redeem for free travel or other perks, upon accrual of the necessary points.

Common types of loyalty programs in the travel industry include airlines’ frequent flier programs and hotels’ frequent lodger programs.
