A docent, in travel terminology, is someone who leads guided tours, especially in a museum, art gallery, zoo, or other such cultural institution, knowledgeable and delivering commentary and answering questions which any participants may have on the tour’s subject(s).

Pronunciation: DOH-suhnt

A docent is essentially a tour guide, though one through cultural settings instead of a city guide or a pub crawl leader. A docent is usually a volunteer, but sometimes they may accept tips.
