Conventional travel is the kind of tourism centered more on the person(s) doing the traveling, whereas alternative travel, in its many variations, usually refers to a journey where the focus is on the destination and the traveler(s) get involved, either physically, educationally, or consciously.
Conventional travel would include “commonplace” travels, such as sightseeing in Paris, a family trip to Disney World, or a honeymoon in Bali.
