Checked Baggage

Updated: 2017-12-07.

Checked baggage is where a passenger’s items are taken to be stowed in the storage area of the airplane, bus, or other such transportation.

The luggage area of these vehicles usually allow for larger and heavier items than what is usually accepted as a carry-on, though often there is a fee to use the service, as well as a longer wait to retrieve belongings upon arrival.

To determine the quantity and weight allowed per passenger, the traveler must contact the company or check the fine print of their travel reservation and identify the baggage allowance.

Checked baggage may be met in the arrival airport by deplaning passengers at the baggage carousel.
