Baggage allowance is the amount of baggage (luggage) a passenger may transport without having to pay extra charges, determined by carrier and the fare class purchased.
Many carriers will split the baggage allowance two ways:
Carry-on baggage allowance – the number and/or weight of items allowed to be brought aboard with the passenger and stored at their seat.
Checked baggage allowance – the number and/or weight of items allowed to be stowed in the storage area of the airplane, train, or bus.
Baggage allowance is sometimes referred to as luggage allowance.
