Amidships refers to the middle section of a vessel, in line with the keel. Amidships is a locational term mostly associated with water vessels and the maritime side of travel, though it can be used for aircraft, as well.

Amidships is often confused with midships, which is a location on a slightly different plane (distinguished from fore or aft)
