Adventure Travel

Updated: 2017-12-13.

Adventure travel is a trip or excursion, often to a natural environment or remote location, with the purpose of active physical activity, exertion, and exploration.

Adventure travel often means different things to different people, but it is usually classified under a parent category, alternative travel.

Some examples of adventure travel can include going to Alaska with the purpose of scaling Denali, or perhaps a trip to Tennessee to raft the Chattanooga River.

Adventure travelers travel to destinations with the specific purpose of active physical participation and exploration of new experiences. This is the traveler who climbs ever-higher mountains and rafts ever-whiter rapids.
