Here is our list of the best history websites on the internet:

1. Encyclopædia Britannica

The Encyclopædia Britannica is one of the best history websites out there, if not the best. They’ve been in business for over 250 years, so they’re pretty historical themselves. Not only can you find great articles on almost every history topic you can think of, but they have unique features and a great newsletter to boot.

I’ve signed up to their “On this day in history” newsletter (as well as all their others, and it does a great job at showing you unique events from the world’s past in a simple email. Their features are also top-notch, such as 100 Women, Saving Earth, and SpaceNext 50.

2. US Library of Congress

The United States Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, and you can bet they have a fair amount of historical articles and blog posts, to say the least.

The LOC has over a dozen blogs, including ones related to performing arts, science and technology, women’s history, and more. Their vast collections include millions of photos from the past, patents, and even copyrights.

3. The History Channel

You may know the History Channel from their cable TV news channel, but their online presence is definitely one of the most engaging history websites out there, as well. Like their TV programs, the reads you’ll find are in-depth and insightful without being boring, and you’ll be hooked once you stop by.
